Against the backdrop of recent political turmoil in Bihar, Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha today advocated for fresh elections to overcome "instability" and accused JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar of attempting to make Jitan Ram Manjhi a "rubber stamp" chief minster.
"Nitish Kumar wanted to make Jitan Ram Manjhi as his own rubber stamp but Manhi did not allow him to do so," the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party chief and Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development told PTI.
He said such expectation from a chief minister is "uncalled for" as the post of CM is associated with the pride of the state.
Kushwaha said Manjhi should be commended for his steps taken against the hidden advances of Kumar.
Demanding fresh polls after dissolving the Bihar Assembly, he said, "In the present scenario fresh polls should be held to overcome the political instability in Bihar".
He also claimed that if elections would be held in present circumstances in Bihar, NDA will get full majority.
Alleging that the steps taken against Manjhi by the JD(U) leadership is being considered by people as "attack on the Dalit communities", Kushwaha said this happened because Manjhi did not allow Nitish to make him a "rubber stamp".
Manjhi was sacked as the JD-U legislature party leader at a meeting of the party's MLA's in Patna yesterday.
