Anirban Lahiri, who has been the toast of Indian and Asian golf this year, signed a high profile deal to become the Brand Ambassador for the Hinduja Global Solutions Limited (HGS).
The three-year-contract was signed here today and will see Lahiri promote the IT company, HGS, which has clients in US. He will especially be useful when he appears in events on PGA Tour in 2016.
The currently top golfer in Asia, Lahiri, who leads the Asian Tour Order of Merit by a massive margin and cannot be overtaken, will serve as the company's first Brand Ambassador in the international market.
The 28-year-old Lahiri, said, "It is a great moment for me. I am from Bangalore and so is the company. And both of us are seeking to make a big mark in the US. So, there is an automatic synergy between us."
He added, "I believe that the key factors for consistent success on the golf course are adaptability, innovation and execution. It is therefore an honor to represent HGS, which has exemplified these traits in the their industry through the years. As I continue to grow in my career, I look forward to partnering with them in their journey to achieve aggressive growth globally."
Commenting on the association, Partha DeSarkar, Global CEO, HGS said, "We are delighted to partner with an upcoming Indian sportsman like Anirban. Golf promotes a strong honor code backed by mutual respect and this is precisely how we do business with our customers. Anirban showcases dependability and cutting-edge execution, both characteristics that we are known for."
DeSarkar, a keen golfer himself added that he had been following Lahiri's progress and made up his mind even before he had secured his PGA Tour card.
"I was confident that he would. I watched him at the Masters and then followed his progress through the year."
Lahiri, who has had a great season with wins in Maybank Malaysian Open and Hero Indian Open also became the first Indian to finish in Top-5 at a Major with his PGA finish in fifth place.
"That was my best moment of the year, finishing fifth at Whistling Straits," said Lahiri.
He is now ranked 41st in the world and is likely to stay on in Top-50 at the end of the year and that will give him a spot at the Masters, where he made the cut this year and all other Majors.
He said, "I am now looking forward to next week's event in Bahamas and will then strengthen my knee over the next four weeks and take some rest."
Lahiri will now play the Hero World Challenge in Bahamas alongside a field hat includes World No.1, Jordan Spieth, next week and then take four weeks rest before he starts the new season.
