Justice Oka was speaking at the inauguration of the late Prabhkar M Hegde lecture here recently organised jointly by Vidhi Foundation, an local organisation of lawyers, and the TMC Law College.
He also discussed the credibility of the judiciary and the crisis being faced by it during the present times.
The judiciary's credibility depends on various factors, including selection of judges, infrastructure and priorities given to the litigations, he said.
Justice Oka said that each and every member of the society should get speedy justice and there should be no distinction between the litigants.
Several eminent lawyers were presented at the event where four senior advocates from Thane were presented the lifetime achievement award for their contribution towards the legal profession and society.
