Raut, in an article in the Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana' on Sunday, had said that NCP chief Sharad Pawar confided in him that Modi had offered cabinet berth to Sule, the Baramati MP.
"Condemnations and revelations keep happening in politics. People should take a cue from Balasaheb (late Sena founder Bal Thackeray) and come out and accept with courage what has happened. What has been said, is said. What has been done, is done. I will not go back on (the statement)," Raut told reporters here.
"If Supriya Sule says she will not join the BJP, she will not. But Pawar or Modi can clarify if this meeting had happened or not," he said.
According to Raut, Pawar told him that Modi said to the NCP chief in their meeting that he wanted Sule in his cabinet, but Sule, who too was present there, said she would be the "last person to join the BJP".
Dismissing Raut's claim, a state BJP spokesperson had said yesterday that both Pawar and Raut have "no political credibility left", while an NCP spokesperson said it would never join hands with the BJP due to ideological differences.
