Judge M P Subramanian sentenced Govindan under sections IPC 302 (murder) and 201 (attempting to destroy evidence) and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000.
The Judge also sentenced him 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment for kidnap under IPC 366 and seven years for attempt RPT attempt to rape under 376 (rape) read with 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with life imprisonment).
The sentences will run concurrently, he ordered.
Incidentally, Govindan is already serving a life sentence in the the Central prison here as he was convicted in the rape and murder of a 21-year old college student in Uthangarai in Krishnagiri in January 2011.
Govindan who had surrendered a couple of days after the murder of the minor girl, confessed to have raped and murdered the college girl for which a Krishnagiri Court sentenced him for life imprisonment.
