Richard Linklater's new secret coming-of-age film will centre around the moon landing.
In a statement, the Texas Film Commission said that Linklater and his team are seeking archival footage for use in his next film.
"Where were you when we landed on the moon?" states the query.
"The Apollo 11 landing is one of the most significant days in human history. For Houstonians, its a day well never forget. The summer of 1969 was an unforgettable chapter in Houston history, and we want to share your memories of that time with the rest of the world," it added.
The "Boyhood" director is specifically requesting for "home movies and archival images from Houston in the 1960s".
"Have a home movie from Astroworld or the Astrodome, or a recording of your little brother with Kitrik? Did someone you know use a Kinescope to record the moon landing? If so, we want to see it and anything else that documents that era!" it added.
The statement also said that the selected material may be "showcased in an upcoming film about growing up in Houston during the Apollo era".
Linklater had last month confirmed to The Houston Chronicle that the film will have a 1960s Houston setting and will be told from a kid's point of view.
"You had so much going on in Houston at once: NASA, the Medical Center, the Astrodome," Linklater had told the paper.
