To be presented on Monday on the eve of Mahalaya which marks the beginning of Durga Puja, the musical programme 'Durga Mahima' at the ICCR auditorium will have four such songs of Mullick which have not been heard after the sixties.
"Several songs that were heard during the live broadcast of 'Mahishasuramardini' in the period 1931-1961 and are no longer heard in the recorded version that is played at present, have been resurrected and will be presented live during the programme," Mullick's granddaughter-in-law Jhinuk Gupta told PTI.
There are more than 20 such songs related to 'Mahishasuramardini' which are no longer heard, she said.
Mahalaya is a 90-minute radio musical with oration of 'Chandipath' broadcast at dawn. The oratorio comprising songs and narrations has been running successfully on radio for the last 83 years.
