Lowe's Companies has appointed Narayan Ram as the Managing Director for its India operations, the company said today.

He will be responsible for overall strategy and operations and will report to Lowe's Chief Financial Officer Robert F Hull, Lowe's said in a statement.

Ram will lead the new Lowe's customer support centre in Bangalore (Lowe's Services India), established to expand the firm's analytics and technology functions.

Founded in 1946, Lowe's is an American chain of retail home improvement and appliance stores that has presence in US, Canada, and Mexico. It has more than 1,830 stores and 2.6 lakh employees.

"Ram's experience in building and leading service delivery team will help Lowe's further its transformation to an omni-channel retailer with advanced web search, mobile and social systems," Hull said.

Ram joins Lowe's from Sony, where he served as the head of Sony's Global Delivery Centre for IT and Processes in India.

He brings more than 24 years of experience in Information Technology (IT) and IT enabled services to Lowe's.

In his new role, Ram will build a highly collaborative team to support data-driven analytical and technical functions, the statement said.

Lowe's Companies serves about 15 million customers a week and registered sales of USD 53.4 billion in fiscal year 2013, it added.
