Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan today met Lativian Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis and appreciated the european nation's support for India's membership as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and the Nuclear Suppliers Group, an official statement said.
The speaker is on a tour of Belarus, Latvia and Finland from June 10-18 alongwith a parliamentary delegation.
It reflects the continued growth and strength of bilateral relations, Mahajan was quoted in a statement issued by the Lok Sabha secretariat.
Both Mahajan and Kucinskis emphasised on the need for United Nations reforms and the Indian membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).
"..there is great potential for forging of closer cooperation between India and Latvia," Mahajan said. She also urged the two countries to make all possible efforts to increase the trade.
