Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said his government would be guided by the philosophy of late Jan Sangh leader Deendayal Upadhyaya who advocated uplift of the "last man in the society" through inclusive growth.
"Panditji (Upadhyaya) put forth the idea of uplifting the last man of the society and said all-sided development should be the base of a developed society. Now as our government is in power, our main thrust would be on following his principles and reach out to the last person of the society," he said.
He was speaking at a function to release the book 'My Flirtation With Politics', written by Arun Sathe, a veteran RSS functionary.
Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi and RSS's joint general secretary Dr Krishna Gopal spoke on 'Integral Humanism in the Present Context' at the function, organised by the city unit of BJP.
"The positive political transformation which Assam has currently gone through is the result of seamless efforts made by Sathe," Gopal said.
"India is the centre of spirituality. Indian sages through their intuition felt that entire universe is an integral unit and nothing is independent," he said.
Joshi said the people should not be in conflict with the ecosystem so that it remains intact, but the exploitation of natural resources, especially by the developed countries, was taking a toll on the society.
"All the natural resources are drying up fast and time has come to stop it. We should stop running behind a market-driven society. This tendency has resulted in immense wealth through excessive utilisation of the natural resources, but it has also resulted in terrorism, inequality, etc.," he said.
The drought in many parts of the country was an outcome of indiscriminate utilisation of natural resources and even the land was being laid waste by overdose of chemical fertilisers, the former cabinet minister said.
