The Maharashtra government will soon launch a website where labourers from both organised and unorganised sectors can submit their complaints, Labour Minister Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar said here today.
The website will focus on ensuring that statutory minimum wages are paid to the workers, he said.
"We will be able to protect the rights of the labourers who report their problems through this website. Many a time it is difficult for them to contact the government authorities directly," Nilangekar said.
Focus of the portal would be on ensuring that minimum wages are paid to labourers, and action would be taken whenever a case of underpayment is reported, the minister said.
"There are several cases where workers are sacked without any notice or prior intimation. We will keep a watch on these things through the website," he said.
The minister would receive a weekly report of complaints registered through the website. A committee headed by the Labour Commissioner will deal with the complaints and maintain the website.
