Maize futures down 1.66 per cent

Maize prices fell by 1.66 per cent to Rs 1,537 per quintal in futures trading today after participants trimmed positions, driven by weak physical markets sentiment.
Marketmen attributed fall in maize prices to increased arrivals of new crops in the spot markets.
At the National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange, maize delivery in December month contract dropped by Rs 24, or 1.66 per cent to Rs 1,537 per quintal, with an open interest of 17,730 lots.
Also, maize for November delivery was trading lower by Rs 19, or 1.24 per cent to Rs 1,517 per quintal, having open interest of 4,230 lots.
