Majithia will undergo religious sewa (religious service) at all Five Takhts, and three days at Akal Takht in Amritsar, the highest temporal seat of Sikhs.
The meeting was headed by Jathedar of Akal Takaht Giani Gurbachan Singh here today. Jathedar Gaini Gurbachan Singh pronounced the decision in presence of Majithia at Akal Takht.
Majithia had at an election rally reportedly distorted a hymn in Gurbani, compositions of the Sikh gurus, and inserted Jaitley's name into it.
Besides, he will have to clean utensils of devotees for an hour at least for three days. During these days he has to listen religious hymns (Gurbani) in the Golden Temple.
He was also asked to deposit Rs 501 in the Gurdwara treasury. Majithia accepted the religious punishment.
Meanwhile, radical Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said at least the Akal Takht Jathedar has dared to act against a close relative of the Badals. It happens to be a rare chance when Jathedars' have discharged their responsibilities to the best of satisfaction of Sikhs.
