West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today arrived here on for a three-day visit to North Bengal.
She was accompanied by North Bengal Development Minister Gautam Deb and Trinamool Congress General Secretary Mukul Roy.
Talking to reporters at Bagdogra airport, Banerjee said she visited North Bengal often as she liked the region.
Besides, she said, she would oversee the construction of a 'mini secretariat' here.
Refusing to answer any question on issues like the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha or the panchayat poll, the chief minister said there could be political differences, but she wished that everyone in the hills and the other parts of the state be happy and stay together.
When people stayed together, economic development took place, Banerjee said adding if tourists get a 'wrong message', they would not come to Darjeeling and the economy of the hills would be affected.
The chief minister said she would take part in the prize distribution ceremony of an archery competition of the adivasis tomorrow, as she had attended the same ceremony for a football tournament in Jungle Mahal.
Banerjee would attend an administrative meeting later in the day.
