Mamata trying to communalise cattle sale ban : Singh

Senior BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh today accused Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee of trying to "politicise and communalise" the ban on sale of cattle for slaughter and said that West Bengal is free to frame its own law on it.
"Mamata Banerjee should not try to politicise and communalise the issue. She is free to frame her own law (on the matter in the state)" Singh, also Uttar Pradesh health minister, told reporters here.
"They(TMC) have a communal agenda and BJP has development agenda. We have won in U.P and we will win in Bengal," he said.
Singh said it was not the unhealthy and old cattle but only the healthy ones which were taken to mandis (markets) for dairy farm or such purposes.

"In U.P we have closed only illegal slaughterhouses and tanneries", he said.
Banerjee had described the Centre's notification on cattle slaughter as a "deliberate attempt" to encroach upon the state's powers and said her government would not accept it.
On cow vigilantism, Singh said it had nothing to do with BJP. "If somebody does anything wrong, law is there."
Asked about his slogan 'Bhag Mamata bhag' given in 2014, Singh said, "The way situation is changing here it will come to be true in 2021 (next assembly election in Bengal). Now the people are saying that BJP is the only alternative.
