Mamata warns TMC workers against dissent, graft

Cautioning party workers to stay away from infighting and corruption, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today asked party leaders in Nadia district to work together and ensure that all Assembly seats in the district are won by TMC in the next year's state poll.
Addressing party leaders, MPs and MLAs of Nadia district, Trinamool Congress supremo Banerjee referred to former state minister Madan Mitra and said she "still doesn't believe that Madan has committed any wrong."
"Mamata Banerjee told us to stay away from infighting and put up a united face. She said there are allegations of internal feud in the party following differences among party leaders which were posing a threat to various development work," a TMC leader said on condition of anonymity.

"Mamata di also told us to stay away from those elements who have a corrupt image. Didi told us not to fight among ourselves, rather fight against canards that opposition is spreading against TMC," he said.
Banerjee also asked them to expedite development programmes as the party proposes to make development agenda a major tool for Assembly polls slated to be held next year.
In her fourth district-level evaluation meeting with the leaders of Nadia district, Banerjee underscored the need for highlighting development work undertaken by the government and not to be provoked by opposition parties before the approaching election.

Banerjee said there were relentless attempts to mislead

people of the state and some of the comments even surprised her.
She said the party has more responsibility with this victory.
"People could not vote in some areas as they were terrorised. There will be victors and losers in a democracy but it was taken to a historic low which is dangerous," she said.
The West Bengal Chief Minister also thanked the Election Commission for ensuring a free and fair polling.
She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley congratulated her on TMC's victory.
"There has to be a Laxman Rekha in politics which has to be adhered to. People should learn from experience," she said.

Banerjee said the party will organise a host of cultural events till May 30 to celebrate the victory.
On her future roadmap for West Bengal, Banerjee said she will strictly follow the party manifesto as it is the guiding force.
