money by his friends, a man allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison here, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday at Purian Mohalla area and the deceased has been identified as Rajesh Malhotra (38), they said.
According to a police complaint lodged by the man's wife Kavita, Malhotra was depressed over non-payment of Rs 16 lakh which his friends had borrowed from him.
The deceased had borrowed money from bank to fund his friends' projects but they failed to return it following which he went into depression and consumed poison to end his life, Kavita said.
A case has been registered against the man's friends Rajesh Nanda, Amit Nanda and Lakhwinder Singh on the basis of the statement made by his wife, police said, adding that the accused are absconding.
