Residents saw the burning car and informed the fire department.
"We got a fire call at 6.05 pm. The fire tender reached the site but by that time the car was completely burnt and the man in the rear seat was found charred to death", a Fire Station officer said adding the deceased is yet to be identified.
The door on the front side was open and the river may have fled away or injured and could have been taken to some hospital, said the officer.
In the evening, another fire incident was reported from a Delta sector house which was unoccupied. Power cable had caught fire at the house.
Firemen extinguished the blaze before it could affect adjacent houses.
