Man gets 4 years jail for trying to kill employer

A Delhi court has sent a 32-year- old man to four years in jail for trying to kill his employer saying no leniency can be shown to him even though the victim sustained simple injury.
Additional Sessions Judge Hemani Malhotra convicted Shafiq, a native of Bihar, of the offence of attempt to murder, relying on the testimonies of victim Niyaz and the eyewitness of the incident.
"Shafiq has been held guilty under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC for stabbing Niyaz with a pair of scissors in his abdomen with intention to commit his murder," the court said.

It also relied on the medical report of Niyaz and rejected Shafiq's contention that he was falsely implicated in the case.
"Nothing was brought on record to show that there was any enmity between the accused and the complainant for him to be falsely implicated," it said.
According to the prosecution, on September 14, 2010, the accused went to meet his employer Niyaz at his factory, in a drunken state and asked him for money.

When Niyaz refused, Shafiq first broke two tube lights and then picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed him in his abdomen, the prosecution said, adding that the victim was taken to a nearby hospital by his colleague Shamsher who witnessed the incident.

The police said that Shafiq's brother, who was also working in the same factory, was sacked by Niyaz because of which he wanted to take revenge.
Shafiq had, however, denied allegations and claimed he was falsely implicated. He also sought leniency from the court on the ground that he was the sole bread earner in his family.
