Man held for possessing ganja worth Rs 1.65 lakh

A 32-year-old man was today arrested at Porvorim near here on the charge of drug-peddling, police said.
The accused, Pradip Narayan Mhetar, who hails from Radhanagari taluka in Kolhapur in neighbouring Maharashtra, was found in possession of ganja worth Rs 1.65 lakh, Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi told reporters today.
"The accused was caught red handed when he came to deliver the drugs to the customer," Dalvi said.
He has been booked under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
"This is the seventh case related to narcotics booked in Porvorim this year," Dalvi said.
