Man who duped patients posing as doctor arrested

A person, who posing as a doctor allegedly duped patients and their families under the garb of helping them with the tests prescribed by doctors at city hospitals, was arrested today.
The accused Rohit Kumar, a native of Merrut, was caught by security personnel of Ganga Ram Hospital here this afternoon.
According to the hospital authorities, the accused, aged around 30 years, was wearing an apron with a stethoscope around his neck and gloves in his hand and had approached a patient and his relatives who were advised MRI by a consultant in the OPD chamber of Ganga Ram Hospital four days ago.

He told the family of the patient that he will get the MRI done at the earliest as he was from the same department, took Rs eight thousand from them and vanished, said Col M S Jaswal, additional director (administration) and head of security of the hospital.
"The family gave us the complaint following which we collected the CCTV footage of that area and the man was spotted," he said.
He said that the authorities then circulated the picture of the man among all the security persons of the hospital.

Jaswal also checked from his counterparts from other hospitals and it was found that the same person had robbed other families in a similar manner in Apollo and Max hospitals as well.

"Today, the accused was seen outside the ENT OPD when the security persons identified him. When questioned, the accused said that he was a DNB student of ENT at the hospital but when records were checked, his name was not found in it. The accused then tried to flee from the spot but was overpowered by the security guards," said Jaswal.
Further investigation into the case is on.
