A youth from Manipur was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Malviya Nagar area here, a day after a 33-year-old man from the same state was found brutally murdered at his home in Kotla Mubarakpur in South Delhi.
The 23-year-old victim, identified as Joy Shuni was pursuing his masters at Delhi University.
His body was found at his rented accommodation in Khirki Extension area in Malviya Nagar in South Delhi, though it did not bear any visible injury marks.
"Shuni, a student of English MA first year at Sri Aurobindo College was living with his brother and a friend since the last three months. On Wednesday night, he had come back home after a party with some friends which included a girl," said a police official.
His friends told police that he had come back late after the party and went to sleep. His room-mates found him dead in the morning following which police was informed.
A police team soon rushed to the spot and moved the body for postmortem after crime and forensic teams visited the spot and collected evidence.
"Although the body did not bore any injury marks, the exact cause of the death is yet to be ascertained which would be clear only after a postmortem. His friends have told us that the deceased consumed liquor at the party. We are probing whether drugs were also served or not as a drug overdose could be a reason for the death, the official added.
DCP (South District) Prem Nath said that Shuni's death was mysterious and the real cause behind the death would be known only after the autopsy.
The case is being investigated from all possible angles and appropriate action would be initiated if turns out to be a case of homicide, he said.
The 33-year-old victim, identified as Zingram Kengo, who was found murdered at his home with his neck slashed last night, was from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. He had come to Delhi just months ago and was living in Kotla Mubarakpur in a rented accommodation.
