Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a high of 32.7 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal.
Ambala in Haryana registered a maximum temperature of 32.9 degree Celsius, which was five notches below normal.
Hisar's maximum today settled at 35 degree Celsius, which was down five notches while Narnaul's maximum of 34.5 degree Celsius, was four notches below normal.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.5 degree Celsius, two notches below normal.
The department here has forecast rain or thundershowers at isolated places in the two states and Chandigarh until tomorrow.
Also, thunderstorm with squall/hails and wind speed exceeding 45 kmph may occur at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab on April 27 and 28, the MeT forecast said.
