Beatles legend Paul McCartney has criticised government plans to relax the fox hunting ban.
The vegetarian star and animal rights activist has issued a statement branding the potential reintroduction "cruel and unnecessary", adding that the government will lose support if it goes ahead, reported Digital Spy.
"The people of Britain are behind this Tory government on many things but the vast majority of us will be against them if hunting is reintroduced. It is cruel and unnecessary and will lose them support from ordinary people and animal lovers like myself," he said.
A Conservative amendment to the Hunting Act - if passed by MPs on July 15 - will allow foxes to be hunted if done "efficiently" to protect other animals and if it's "appropriate" for the terrain.
McCartney's concerns match Brian May's sentiments, with the Queen guitarist recently calling the government proposals an "inexcusable way of behaving".
