The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections are due in April and councillors and senior party leaders, across party lines, are leaving no stone unturned to make most of the time before the model code of conduct kicks in.
The erstwhile MCD was trifurcated in 2012 into North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC). BJP has been ruling the MCD for the last 10 years.
"Online services to register or renew trade/health trade licence have been started at northdmctradehealthlicense.Com as well," North Delhi Mayor Sanjeev Nayyar said.
Traders constitute a significant chunk of voters in Delhi, besides residents of unauthorised colonies. The ruling BJP and opposition Congress are working hard to set the ground ahead of the crucial municipal polls, in which AAP is making its debut.
The Arvind Kejriwal-led party has also announced a slew of schemes in the last few weeks.
On February 17, a Rs 38 crore-multi-level car parking facility in south Delhi's Kalkaji area with a capacity to accommodate 406 vehicles, was inaugurated.
On Friday, South Delhi Mayor laid the foundation stone of a school building at Chaukhnadi, while three smart classes were inaugurated the same day by the NDMC at a municipal model school in Rohini's Sector-15.
In January, the NDMC had named a section of road at Rohini in north west Delhi after Guru Gobind Singh to mark his 350th birth anniversary.
Besides, a diabetes clinic and Ayurvedic dispensary was inaugurated by NDMC yesterday in Krishna Vihar. The civic body is scheduled to inaugurate a polyclinic at Jawalapuri tomorrow.
