The SGPC would construct the memorial at the earliest, Makkar told reporters here.
The delay was due to search for a suitable place, he said adding now it would be finalised soon and construction would start immediately.
Radical Sikh leaders including Satnam Singh, Kanwar Pal Singh and Mohkam Singh met Makkar at the SGPC office here for 30 minutes and presented a detailed report with regard to the proposed memorial.
Sikh hardliners have been demanding a memorial in the Golden Temple complex for those killed during the Operation Blue Star in June 1984.
Makkar assured the delegation that the report would be discussed at the executive committee meeting of the SGPC at Anandpur Sahib tomorrow. PTI CORR SUN RKC RKC
