Mentha oil advanced 0.31 per cent to Rs 911.10 per kg in futures trading today as participants enlarged positions supported by rising demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
Tight stocks position in the physical market on restricted supplies from producing regions further fuelled the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in August gained Rs 2.80, or 0.31 per cent to Rs 911.10 per kg in a business turnover of 231 lots.
Likewise, the oil for delivery in September contracts edged up by Rs 1.40, or 0.15 per cent to Rs 922.60 per kg in 40 lots.
Market analysts said besides rising demand from consuming industries at the spot market, restricted arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly kept mentha oil prices higher in futures trade.
