Donald, who is the official make-up artist for the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016, said he feels great to see Kaling taking the forefront in the industry.
"Mindy Kaling has set up the tone for a lot of fashion in Hollywood. With the mixing of corals and bright colours and pattern, she has paid attention to it through her Indian cultural history and introduced it to America. It has become a trend.
"I haven't worked with her but I find her awesome. She is co-producer of the show and I love women having that control and make big things," Donald told PTI.
In India the only celebrity Donald has ever worked is actress Shraddha Kapoor, who he feels is beautiful human being and an impressive talent.
"I have worked with Shraddha for a cover of a magazine. She is beautiful as person and fun to work with. She is down to earth and very friendly. She is a triple threat, she dances, acts, sings and is so gorgeous at the same time."
Calling India a big fashion market, Donald said the trends here are powerful and unique at the same time.
"Fashion scene in India is huge. India represents 20 per cent of the world's population their view and opinion is just important as anyone else. Fashion in India is very powerful and unique."
Donald appreciates the fact that Indians still love their textiles and continuously working to revive it.
"I like the fact that people in India are focusing on textile. Even I have learned about how artisans make things.
Donald, who is working for the first time in an Indian fashion week, feels they are tiring but enjoys the adrenaline rush.
"I think Indian fashion week is very condensed in terms of so many things happening in small period of time, so it is really hectic. But this increases the energy level."
He finds the shimmer in Indian make-up interesting and appreciates the fact the people in the country have opened up to experiments.
