Kamat was questioned for almost one and half hours this afternoon by the SIT at its office at Dona Paula near here.
Two other senior officers--including former Law Secretary V P Shetye and disgraced Director of Mines and Geology Arvind Lolienkar- were also interrogated by the SIT in the evening.
Kamat, along with another former chief minister Pratapsingh Rane, has been named in the complaint related to the illegal mining scam which was exposed by Justice M B Shah Commission in its report.
The former chief minister, who appeared before the investigating officers, reportedly did not appear much disturbed and remained calm during the questioning.
When approached by mediapersons outside the crime branch office, where he was questioned, Kamat said the investigating officers have not summoned him again.
However, he refused to give any details about today's questioning.
