Minister visits Ullal hit by rough sea conditions

Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader today visited areas in Ullal in Dakshina Kannada district, bordering Kerala, affected by turbulent sea waves in the aftermath of cyclone Ockhi.
He inspected houses which had been damaged by the waves that surged into the shore.
Later talking to reporters, the minister said 35 families had been shifted to safer places.
Five houses in the area had been damaged and adequate compensation would be provided to all those who suffered losses, he said.
The district administration has asked the people of the locality not to panic as the effect of the cyclone had subsided.

Arrangements had been made to relocate the affected families, Khader said.
Ockhi caused extensive damage in southern districts of Tamil Nadu, especially Kanyakumari, and adjoining parts in Kerala last week.
