The councillors, who sat with begging bowls, threatened that if their demands were not met their family members would join the agitation.
The MLCs have been on a hunger-strike and sit-in for the last five days at the district headquarters to press for the release of Rs 160 crore Infrastructure Development Fund by the Uttar Pradesh government for the development of the city.
They said a demand draft (DD) would be made from the proceeds collected from the protests (shoe-polish and the begging) organised and would be sent to Azam Khan, the Urban Development Minister of the state, to "grease the palms" of officials for the release of the fund.
