Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the people of Odisha on the occasion of Raja, an agrarian festival being celebrated mostly in coastal region of the state.
"On the special festival of Raja Parba, my greetings to the people of Odisha. May this festival enhance the spirit of joy in our society," Modi tweeted.
Raja is a three day festival in Odisha, which began yesterday and is being celebrated with fervour by young girls in the state.
The agrarian festival marks the advent of monsoon and celebrates womanhood. It symbolizes the menstrual cycle of Mother Earth and falls on the first day of Asadha month.
While the first day of raja festival is called Pahili Raja, the second is known as Raja Sankranti and the third day Bhuindahana.
