Broadcasting sector regulator TRAI has asked Multi System Operators (MSO) to provide signals of TV channels to Local Cable Operators (LCO) with written interconnection agreements.
TRAI in a statement said the Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable Services) Interconnection (Digital Addressable Cable Television System) Regulations, 2012 specify that MSOs don't provide signals of TV channels to Local Cable Operators without written interconnection agreements.
TRAI said it had come to its notice that some MSOs were luring LCOs to provide signals without these written agreements and emphasised that the norms should be followed.
