Nabard launches village Development Plan in Samba

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) today launched a Village Development Plan (VDP) in Samba border district of Jammu and Kashmir focusing on credit enhancement and financial inclusion.
"NABARD has launched a Village Development Plan (VDP) at Village Shahzadpur in Gho Brahamana panchayat of district Samba", a NABARD Spokesman said.
The VDP was launched by Chief General Manager (CGM), NABARD, Shanker A Pande in presence of hundreds of villagers from the area today.
In his Welcome address, the District Development Manager of NABARD, Surinder Singh gave detailed brief of the plan envisaged under the VDP and apprised that it aims at ensuring holistic and integrated development of the village.
Pande, in his keynote address, said the objective of this Village Development Plan was to ensure socio-economic and livelihood advancement with enhanced credit support and financial inclusion of all families in the village.
He emphasised on meaningful convergence of all government sponsored and NABARD supported schemes for economic development, infrastructure development and other aspects of human development i.E., education, health, drinking water supply and other financial services.
The entire project will be implemented by Priyadarshani Indira Mahila Block Society (NGO) in close coordination with Village Development Committee, he said.
Rajneesh Gupta, SDM, Vijaypur congratulated NABARD and the Village Development Committee on the occasion of launching of VDP and said that success in implementation of any project depended crucially on the interest shown by the village community.
On the occasion, the artists from New Sargam Cultural Club performed a nukkad natak on financial literacy, appealing the public to utilise banking services.
