The Democratic Alliance of Nagaland government has requested the Centre to appoint a new interlocutor while the state government would continue as 'facilitator' for finding an acceptable solution to the vexed Naga political issue.
"We hope that they will appoint a new interlocutor at the earliest and resume the talks. We will try to be the best facilitator and also encourage the Forum for Naga Reconciliation and NGOs to bring different Naga groups together and arrive at an acceptable solution," Chief Minister TR Zeliang told a press conference here last night.
No one has been appointed after former interlocutor R S Pandey resigned in December 2013.
On the progress of peace talks, he said "Since no interlocutor has been appointed they could not process the talks any further. We are hopeful of progress only after the new appointment."
Reacting to internal differences within the ruling NPF following the sacking of senior ministers after his new ministry took over in May 25, Zeliang said "We are stable and there is no threat so far.
