"Our state is only five months old, it's a new state;... when I was Chief Minister earlier first I started marketing the state. Previously politicians and chief ministers were confined to the state only and they never ventured out for marketing opportunities in the state. First I started that," Naidu said.
Speaking at Andhra Pradesh Road Show and an interactive meet organised in association with Confederation of Indian Industry, he said, "you know very well that Andhra Pradesh was only an agrarian state, there were no big investors nor big entrepreneurs."
Talking about his contribution as chief minister in bringing IT to Hyderabad, he said "I built HITEC city and Cyberabad city, then Bill Gates, Bill Clinton everybody started visiting Hyderabad."
"There was very good competition between me and S M Krishna (the then Chief Minister of Karnataka) at that time," Naidu recalled.
Stating that the government at the Centre under Narendra Modi has got a clear mandate, he said "after a long time India has got a good and stable leadership. We are seeing changes both at national and international level. There is a great opportunity and I don't have any doubt about it."
He said "... At the same time Andhra Pradesh had a setback because of bifurcation, but it was inevitable... But bifurcation is an opportunity also..."
Naidu also said "I want to impress upon you that we want to be investor-friendly; Industry, investors and government will work together for promoting and also bring prosperity to the people..."
"I want to maintain international standards and make Andhra Pradesh most investment friendly state in the world itself; that is my mission," he added.
