Naik lauds NCUPL for Urdu promotion

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today lauded the efforts of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) and said that its CDs have also helped him in honing his skills in Urdu.
"I do not have much knowledge of Urdu language and so I am not comfortable in using it... But with the help of the software developed by the NCPUL, I am learning it", the governor said at a 'tea party' hosted in honour of NCPUL's vice chairman Muzaffar Hussain at the Raj Bhawan here.
"I have learnt certain words which I have started using commonly", the governor said.
Speaking on the occasion, Hussain said that though Urdu is commonly referred to as language of Muslims but the reality is that it has been nurtured by common people of the country.
Referring to NCPUL, he said that in the past 18 years of its existence, the Council has tried to teach Urdu through Hindi and English to help it reach common people.
Hussain said that number of Urdu readers have increased because of the initiative of NCPUL and it is being employment oriented to help youth find jobs.
"The Council has sold Urdu books worth Rs 1 crore this year", he added.
