Naval chief chairs annual meeting of NGIF, INBA

Various welfare schemes related to the Naval community were discussed at the annual general meeting of Naval Group Insurance Fund (NGIF) and Indian Naval Benevolent Association (INBA) here today.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba presided over the meeting, a Navy release said.

Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command, Vice Admiral Karambir Singh,Controller of Logistics and Controller of Personnel Services of Integrated Headquarters (IHQ), Ministry of Defence (Navy), Vice-Admiral Sunil Anand and Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar respectively and delegates from other commands of the Navy and Indian Coast Guard were among those who attended the meeting.

They discussed various welfare schemes related to Naval community, the release said.

NGIFwas introduced to provide meaningful social security to serving Navaland Coast Guard personnel, their family members and retired personnel by way of providing life insurance cover in keeping with the socio economic conditions prevailing in society, it said.

INBA was a charitable organisation rendering financial assistance to relieve hardship, distress of serving as well as released/ retired Naval personnel and their families and provides loans for education, marriage, house repair and merit scholarships, the release added.
