Naval authorities today evacuated two seriously ill patients from Lakshadweep to Kochi to provide better medical care.
A Defence spokesman said a request for urgent medical evacuation of two patients from Agatti to Kochi was received by Naval authorities from the Lakshadweep administration.
The patients, Salahuddeen,32, belonging to Androth and Azhar Beegum, 28, belonging to Agatti, were seriously ill and comatose due to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever with bleeding manifestations and in need of urgent medical evacuation to the mainland.
A naval Dornier was immediately launched, with medical personnel to evacuate the patients from Agatti to Kochi.
Salahuddin was shifted to Aster Medicity and Beegum to Medical Trust hospital in Kochi.
