NC creates fear among voters to keep them at bay: BJP

BJP today accused the ruling NC of creating an "atmosphere of fear and uncertainty" to discourage people from participating in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in Kashmir valley.
"The National Conference is creating an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty to discourage people from participating in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in Kashmir," former IGP and BJP leader Farooq Khan told reporters here.
Reacting to the statement of NC president and its candidate from Srinagar Parliamentary constituency Farooq Abdullah that Army facilitated the PDP's victory in 2002 Assembly elections, Khan said NC leaders were levelling baseless allegations on Indian Army.
"It is an attempt to divert the people's attention from their failures. NC leaders are levelling false and baseless allegations on Indian Army and even on BJP and are browbeating central leadership on one pretext or the other with a sole motive of exploiting the innocent Kashmiris," he said.

"Abdullah should not forget that it was the brave Jawans of Army along with Jammu Kashmir police, and para-military forces, which brought back peace to the state through unparallel sacrifices," Khan said.
Lauding the unparallel contribution and sacrifices of Indian Army, Khan said, "Army resurrected destroyed schools, hospitals, guest houses, restored bridges, Mosques, Mazars and drinking water supplies and provided free medical care and goodwill schools to the suffering Kashmiris."

NC leaders, after seeing the writings on the wall and their defeat in the Parliamentary elections, are in panic and now trying to drag the Indian Army in an unnecessary controversy, he said.

"BJP condemns all such nefarious attempts of maligning the fair name of Indian Army which as an institution is considered to be absolutely impartial in political matters," he said.
Khan asked the people to be aware of the politics of NC and reject its game plan for power grab, for the larger interests of peace, prosperity and brotherhood in Jammu and Kashmir.
On claim of separatist leader Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani that emissaries of Narendra Modi had approached him, Khan said "it is a white lie and a crude attempt on his part to gain some media attention."
"Geelani is playing in the hands of a particular party and trying to create confusion in the minds of Kashmiri voters but this time he will not succeed," Khan said.
