Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief Arvinder Singh Lovely said the party was stunned by the attack on its MLA.
Around 15 to 20 youths assaulted Ahmed yesterday while he was addressing a press conference in Lucknow. He has been appointed observer by Congress for Uttar Pradesh.
"This incident was a dangerous precedent in democratic politics. Congress workers in Delhi are stunned at the attack on Ahmed," Lovely said.
Scores of protesters also staged a demonstration at Jantar Mantar today here in connection with the attack on Ahmad.
