Lashing out at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) today accused the National Conference of running the state into bankruptcy just to remain in power.
Speaking on the motion of thanks on Governor's address in the state assembly, senior PDP leader and MLA Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari said the NC through its decades of compromises and sellouts had reduced the state to the status of a pauper.
"The NC had made the state bankrupt and completely dependent on doles by selling out all its resources. NC has sold interests of the state for power," he said.
"What can we ask of this government and what would it be able to give to the people as it has handed over every state resource to the centre just for being able to stay in power," Ansari added.
The MLA said former CM Farooq Abdullah had handed over seven most important power projects to NHPC and following in his footsteps, Omar too has given away three more important projects to the hydro power generation company under the garb of joint venture.
