Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is member of the NDMC council, said a decision was taken in this regard at today's meeting. However, other council members disagreed.
"I had said on August 15 that thekedari (contractual hiring) be stopped. The NDMC council today decided that practice will be stopped. Congratulations to poor workers," Kejriwal tweeted.
NDMC Vice Chairman Karan Singh Tanwar, however, denied that any such decision took place.
"The item was not on agenda. No resolution was passed. It was discussed verbally but was not given any formal shape. It will be incorrect to say that the contractual hiring practice will be stopped," Tanwar said.
NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar was unavailable for his comment on the issue.
