With AAP set to hold a rally in Connaught Place's Central Park tomorrow, the NDMC today said it is making preparations and has approached Delhi Police for permission and security arrangements for the event.
While police had earlier said that the request for security arrangements should have been made by the Delhi government and not through NDMC, it maintained today that the permission is under process.
"After receiving a communication from Delhi Government we had written to DCP New Delhi regarding a NOC for the event and making necessary required arrangements to which they had replied that since it is a Delhi Government function, it should have been communicated directly to police rather than routing through NDMC," a senior civic body official said.
NDMC, however, communicated to police that several functions have beem organised in past in the Central Park following a similar procedure.
"Police then asked us for more details regarding the number of people attending, the media arrangements, parking facility needed, among other things. We sent the details today afternoon to them and they are working on the same," the official added.
When asked about whether a permission has been given for the event, Vijay Singh, DCP New Delhi said, "The event is tomorrow and there is enough time. The process is on."
Delhi Government has planned a mega event at Central Park tomorrow where the entire Delhi Cabinet will be present to highlight its achievements during last 100 days before the public.
The NDMC official reiterated that these are routine matters and should not be seen in any negative light.
"All these are routine matters. The communications regarding preparations of such events should not be seen in any negative light," the official said.
