East Delhi Municipal Corporation said this during its Standing Committee meet at the Pataparganj headquarters here.
Out of the 2,198 mobile towers, 847 of them are illegally put up, the EDMC said.

The civic body also said that it has taken action such illegal structures and from January 1, 2012 to October 13 this year, it has sealed 543 illegal towers.
South Delhi has 3,670 mobile towers in its area, with the illegal structures among them comprising nearly 70 per cent of the total, leaving just 1,133 of them as legally-installed, according to official figures.
In north Delhi, the number of legally-installed towers stands at 1,255 out of the 2,539 tower, the North Corporation had said in its standing committee meet in September.
