Nearly 3L converge at adiyogi bust for Sivaratri celebrations

Nearly three lakh people gathered in front of 112-foot tall bust of 'Adiyogi' at Isha Yoga Centre on the outskirts of the city for Mahashivaratri celebrations, which ended early this morning.
The celebrations, which began at six PM last evening ended at six AM today, in the presence of Isha Foundation founder, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, interspersed with discourses and meditation sessions.
Renowned singer Sonu Nigam, fusion band Sean Roldan and Friends, vocalist Mohit Chauhan and popular musician Daler Mehndi enthralled the crowd, a Foundation press release said.
Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Deputy Chief Minister O Paneerselvam, ministers S P Velumani, Thangamani and Udaykumar and Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy were among the dignitaries present at the function.
During the celebrations a 'Pancha Bhuta Aradhana' a unique opportunity to cleanse the five elements of the body which leads to health and well-being, was conducted, followed by an exuberant Maha Arati, the release said.
In his discourse, Sadhuguru said Adiyogi represented a possibility to shift humanity from religion to responsibility, from looking outward to turning inward.
At the stroke of midnight,Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev initiated the huge gathering into a meditation session, it said.
The 112 foot tall bust of 'Adiyogi' Lord Shiva, unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 24 last year, has been declared as the world's largest bust by the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Foundation had said that the bust refers to the source of Yoga and symbolises the 112 methods of self transformation that the first Yogi or Adiyogi (originator of yoga) offered.
