Inaugurating 'Van Mahotsava' here, Akhilesh said that "a lesson should be taken from the calamity in the neighbouring Uttarakhand, claiming thousands of lives and crores of properties".
He said that a target of planting more than four crore trees has been fixed this year.
Under this special drive, plantation has been done on 50 acres of land alongside Sharda canal in Para area.
He also asked people to remain alert towards global warming and emphasised on planting big and traditional trees.
