Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli said Thursday that people of Nepal and China drink water from the same mountains as he sought support and cooperation from the neighbouring country to meet the Himalayan nation's prosperity goals.

Oli, who met China's visiting Minister of Culture and Tourism Luo Shugang, recalled the centuries-old relations between the two countries.

"Support and cooperation from the neighbouring countries have been expected to meet the prosperity goals and additional support has been hoped from the close neighbours," he said.

Oli said the two countries are geographically so close that their people drink water from the same mountains, sources said.

The Chinese minister said China was preparing to send maximum number of tourists to Nepal.

Arrival of Chinese tourists in Nepal was 48 per cent more as compared to those in the previous year, he said.

The Chinese are more attracted to Nepal's traditional and cultural heritages, Luo said.

He suggested keeping the originality and distinctiveness of such heritages alive during the restoration of earthquake-hit monuments, saying it would help Nepal's tourism sector in the long run.
