The accused identified by the police as Farid Sheikh, wanted a motorbike and a buffalo as part of the dowry.
Sheikh and his parents, who poured kerosene oil on the victim, are on the run and the Nepal police have launched a manhunt to nab them.
The 25-year-old woman, who was seven months pregnant, has been burnt half of her body below the waist. However the incident was covered up for about a month.
The woman's father went to India in search of her daughter, who had miscarriage due to severe burns.
He filed a criminal case against Sheikh at Banke District Police station after he came across the incident.
The statement of the victim was recorded by the police.
The woman has been brought back to Kathmandu for medical treatment. Her entire body has been wrapped with bandages.
