Acting on a tip-off, a team of Metropolitan Traffic Police Circle, Kathmandu raided the rented room of Dipak Kumar Gupta in Bangemudha area in the heart of the capital.
Gupta, who hails from Sitamarhi in Bihar was arrested yesterday and six machines for copying movies, over 2,500 DVDs of Nepali, English and Hindi movies, 100 blank CDs and other accessories were recovered from the rented room, police said.
The police presented Gupta at the Kathmandu District Court today, seeking remand following which the court remanded the accused to police custody for five days.
He faces a fine of 10,000 to 1,00,000 Nepali rupees or six-month jail term or both, based on gravity of offence.
